No period seemed more inviting to me personally and to promise more interesting discoveries than the one which Crabtree spent in the city in whose main square stands a magnificent statue of Jeann e Bonne Lorraine, to whom further reference will be made later, the beautiful city of Orléans, the period 1783 to 1792.
