ABSTRACT

In reading through the answers, I did try to find a common theme. There were the expected admonishments to get dressed

every day, although I do know playwrights who never get dressed until they Ve completed their writing for the day. The suggestion to keep glued to your chair is given in the face of the distractions that call to all of us. But then too, there are the exceptions, like Hemingway, who preferred to write standing up. The call to pas sion and truth and simplicity and staying true to your vision were all among the answers. After reading all the responses however, one element was clear. For each writer, the most valuable piece of advice is as different for each one of us as our voices and our subjects. My recommendation is to keep your ears open for that advice which sings to you.
