ABSTRACT

A casting director can go through category files, or computer records, and choose up to a dozen or so actors for each role. This chapter recommends that the people have to arrive at least ten or fifteen minutes before their call time, because they will be asked to fill in one or two forms and they might be given a script to study or a storyboard to look at. Always spend as much time as they need on the script and get familiar with it; even memorize the lines if possible. The actual director of the commercial might or might not be present. Remember that the client will have a very firm idea of the type casting director is looking for and will probably not recognize any of the actors who turn up. Casting director sometimes asks naive questions, which they should regard as very intelligent ones and answer them with the greatest of respect.
