ABSTRACT

The good news is that there are some wonderful, thrilling, and truly creative directors around who encourages one and want the very best he can give. On the other hand there are some dreary, ineffectual, and totally unhelpful ones. Actors in the theatre are mainly chosen by the director; they feel beholden to them and keep a certain reverence to secure the possibility of working with them again. One never feels that arguing with the director leads to any conclusion that favors the actor, and it could lead to a permanent animosity. If he really feel that the director is on a completely opposite tack to the way he see his character, then he have to fight his corner, but in the most tactful way possible. Many of the screen directors have never acted and do not have an insight into the craft of creating and developing a character.
