ABSTRACT

Classes are a wonderful way to improve and to keep actor's in touch with the industry, but they should not get stuck too long on one phase or get into a situation where they have to spend months or years trying to achieve some mythical level of acting nirvana. A lot of actors go in for further training, which is admirable, if they genuinely want to improve their skills. They can expand their knowledge and experience by training in areas that they are not sure about, such as screen acting or radio work. They run the risk of getting sucked into a mutual support system, where actors sit around and talk about each other's acting. Actors are not guiltless, because some of them sign up for wonderful courses but have no desire to learn from their distinguished teachers. They just want to be able to put the famous names on a resume, as if they had worked for them professionally.
