ABSTRACT

The main difference between stage and screen auditions is that for the stage those auditioning we are looking for potential because actors will be rehearsing with them and therefore need to see what we might come up with-but for the screen they are looking for results. Sometimes at the moment actors walk onstage, those holding the auditions know they are not going to choose their perhaps because they look too much like someone else in the cast so do not insist on staying longer than they want there to. The pressures of a shoot are such that it can be difficult to give the actors a stream of creative notes, as the director is struggling to get the camera, tracks, lights, sound, design, makeup, costumes, and so forth all looking right. The actor then is already expected to deliver what is required, so that is what the auditioners are looking for in the audition.
