ABSTRACT

Imagine the auditioners are part of a full house. If you are performing a soliloquy, we will be speaking directly to the audience, so spread it around and include them from time to time with eye contact. As always, put yourself in the auditioners' shoes. Wherever you come in the order of those being auditioned, they will be grateful for an entertaining performance. Give them something different in the way you act, something they will really want to watch-unpredictability is the key. It does not have to be slapstick comedy or histrionics, just a few unexpected gear changes that will make it interesting. If we are playing a character that is onstage with others, we will need to address them from time to time, so make sure that you cheat yourself round front so the auditioners get a good look at you full on and not in a constant profile to the audience.
