ABSTRACT

Something that is good acting is good, and the bigger it is, the easier it is for the audience to see, understand, and enjoy. The smaller it is, the more risk there is of its not being seen or appreciated. A really great actor will always do those things that at first seem startling, but when she does them you realize that they come across as completely justified, completely truthful and wildly interesting. The less than great actor does those things that are expected of her, and although she can be wonderfully truthful and motivated, the audience members' eyes can start drifting off to the other performers or to the other sections of the screen to see if there is something even more interesting there than what is going on with the actor currently under the spotlight.
