ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1 we discovered that learning takes place as a direct endproduct of the mental processing activities a person undertakes. Now we turn to some of the influences that affect learning indirectly, by making those mental activities happen. Each of these broader inf luences has large effects on what people actually learn, both at school and in everyday life.
