ABSTRACT

It is generally accepted that research is a personal as well as a general learning process and that one of the outcomes is that the researcher’s values and beliefs are likely to be challenged by what they have’ learned. At the same time, however, it is also necessary to consider the degree to which the outcomes of research are influenced by the values and beliefs held by the researchers. In other words, to what extent is what we see and learn conditioned by conceptual frameworks developed from our own previous experience and that of others?
