ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the relationship built up between international research and the teaching programme on the undergraduate planning course at Liverpool Polytechnic. Given the impending demise of the planning degree brought about by the NAB review of planning education, this chapter might be viewed as a chronicle of lost opportunities. Nevertheless, policy studies remain a significant element in the Polytechnic’s academic programme and the former Planning Department’s experience in relating international research to teaching is being utilised elsewhere in the institution.
