AIDS activists in industralized countries have succeeded in raising the profile of the epidemic when it was first recognised, but this has not been so in the developing world where most people with HIV live. Aulora Stally is Media Manager of Southern Africa AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS), a regional NGO based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Aulora, a journalist by profession, manages the Media Programme at SAfAIDS that works closely with regional media professionals to promote a better understanding and improve communication and coverage of HIV/AIDS in the region.
