ABSTRACT
In Chapter 5 I mentioned the concept of ‘roundness’ suggested a few years ago in a paper by Paul Solomon.269 This describes the way that we use whatever sources we find ‘situationally relevant’. This reminds us that we don’t just seek and read information for the sake of it. We do it in a context, for a purpose. As I’d already said in Chapter 2, this context can be almost any situation from a trivial argument to a terminal disease. So we have myriad ways of using, storing, regurgitating and communicating what we’ve found and read. The contexts of our lives are too rich and varied even to hint at in this chapter.
