It is interesting how Internet technologies have brought with them a whole new set of computer jargon for us to get used to. One commentator said that the term ‘extranets’ sounded like a reference to a heavy duty pair of tights. Here are a few definitions of what ‘extranets’ really are:

‘An extension of a corporate intranet using world wide web technology to facilitate communication with its suppliers and customers. An extranet allows customers and suppliers to gain limited access to a company’s intranet in order to enhance the speed and efficiency of their business relationship.’32
