ABSTRACT

In order to maintain and sustain a programme of strategic change, managers need to consider several infrastructure issues and other continuing concerns. This chapter is inevitably selective in the topics covered and depth of treatment, but the subjects chosen reflect those things often cited as making a significant difference to the quality of information service delivery-the things managers must get right to enable their service to survive and thrive through a programme of continuous development. Most of the topics covered here have been mentioned earlier (for example in the Seven S Framework in Chapter 4) but not given as much attention as their significance warrants. The need for effective management and development of important resources is a recurring theme of this chapter, especially the development and training of information service staff.
