ABSTRACT
Artillery training in peacetime has all too often proved inadequate in war, for two reasons: the difficulty of demonstrating or simulating firepower on a realistic scale, and the inclination of gunners to ignore tactical issues and concentrate on introverted technical aspects of their profession. Thus artillery training has tended to be separated from that of other arms, and they have tended to look down on it (1).
