ABSTRACT

Although there were many similarities between the Dependent respondents, and numerous differences between them and the control groups, it became apparent from the analyses already undertaken that the Dependents did not form an homogeneous group, in spite of the fact that they all considered themselves to be dependent upon computers. The interviews highlighted differences in personality, and in the use of and attitudes held towards the computer by the individual Dependents. Because of this lack of cohesiveness, differences were looked for amongst the Dependents to observe whether distinct sub-groups were apparent.
