ABSTRACT
Before we turn to Self-directive dreams we need to meet Mairi as a person. Much of this material will be disguised, condensed, and selective. Confidentiality matters, so the following sketch includes only those aspects of Mairi’s personal history which are relevant to the appearance of her Self-directive dreams and her transformative experience. However, Mairi’s dreams and her vision and the sequence in which everything occurred are as true to life as I could make them, as are her words and the experiences they describe. These I have not disguised.
