ABSTRACT
Forty years as a nurse and nursing home inspector have taught me that abuse can still shock and offend me. It is easier to dismiss altogether than to accept the solitary fact that it cuts across all social classes and encompasses all care settings. It is impossible to give more than a brief overview of adult abuse within a single chapter. The main focus will be specifically on persons with dementia, how best to support, care for, respect and above all protect them.
