ABSTRACT

One of the most interesting issues I have noticed over my years as a therapist has been how much forgiveness, or dif®culty with it, comes into my practice. I discovered, when I compared my experience with my peers, that this was unusual. Most people with whom I work do not have a committed Christian faith. They hold what I would see as Christian morals, beliefs and attitudes, such as kindness to people, not judging, being honest and treating others with respect. It is, generally, not their biblical faith that brings them to the theme of forgiveness, but their need to be at one with themselves and not feel judged by themselves or others.
