ABSTRACT

This chapter is all about relapse prevention. We look at what is going to keep you on the straight and narrow, and the common mistakes people make that cause them to relapse into their old bad habits. Once you have reached a stage of recovery, you can begin to take stock. If your problem has been one of over-exercise or muscle dysmorphia, you may be beginning to broaden your life away from the rigid prison of compulsive over-exercise. If you have achieved weight restoration away from anorexia nervosa, you will experience clarity of thought and strength of body. If you are no longer binge eating, your self-esteem will be growing. Along with all these positives there may also be some negatives. Go back to your cost-bene®t analysis of recovery, described in Stage 2 (Chapter 14). Does it still seem accurate?
