ABSTRACT

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is one of the conditions traditionally considered as a neurotic disorder. In psychiatric classificatory systems, it is listed among anxiety disorders; the others in the category include phobias, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The literature on obsessive-compulsive disorder is extensive and growing, and excellent clinical accounts and experimental reports are available. The features of the disorder are well recognised, and are in many ways fascinating.
