ABSTRACT
The lung inhales and exhales respiratory gas. The composition of this gas mixture, i.e., the concentration of its components, can be measured by several techniques. Similarly, the composition of the blood, e.g., the partial pressures or the concentrations of the gases that the blood contains, can be measured. We will review the most often used techniques.
