ABSTRACT

It seems somehow appropriate that this Interlude should come directly after the chapter on Verdi and not long before the chapters on Mussorgsky and the Richards, Wagner and Strauss. For the problem facing many opera houses today is the lack of big voices in large enough numbers to satisfy the needs of the various opera theaters. Coaches cannot solve this problem, but a good coach can help those who have the talent for some of this repertoire to develop it better.
