Being a case manager can provide the opportunity to get to know people beyond their medical diagnosis and condition. As a registered nurse and certified case manager, I have met many children and adults because of their medical diagnoses and condition. On each occasion, it is the person, not the diagnosis and condition, with whom I really have had the privilege of working. If you were to become my son Noah’s case manager and work with us, it would be vital that you know Noah as a person. All of us are more than a diagnosis or the sum total of our functional abilities.
