ABSTRACT

FIGURE 23.1(A) Pressure waves from a large bomb caused pulmonary lacerations. This is an attempt at transcatheteral vascular occlusion. More than 300 patients were treated in that way in Hanoi during the Vietnam War. (B and C) Cluster bombs also were used extensively. These are small antipersonnel bombs casting out many small, nonexplosive metal balls with a characteristic appearance on radiographs.
