Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising cancer treatment that involves the combination of visible light and a photosensitizer.
Each factor is harmless by itself, but when combined with oxygen, they can produce lethal cytotoxic agents, initially singlet oxygen, that inactivate tumor cells.
