ABSTRACT
Once upon a time there was a king and queen who had no children, and yet they would have liked to have had a son or a daughter. One day when they were standing on a balcony, a fortune-teller happened to be riding by. All at once the king called to him to come up to the castle so he could tell the queen whether their wish would come true. The fortune-teller looked at the queen for a long time, and as he did this, he made such a sad face that the king became frightened and asked, “Well? What do you see?”
