Originally developed by Motorola and made famous through its high-profile implementation at General Electric (GE), Six Sigma (6σ) is a program that has been successfully applied to quality assurance and cost control. Benefits derived from its implementation have been challenged by some people; facts, however, speak louder than words, and Exhibit 12.1 presents, in a nutshell, GE’s savings from Six Sigma over a four-year timeframe.
