ABSTRACT
Mechanical transmission or inoculation is a widely used technique in experimentation with plant viruses. It can be used to propagate plant viruses, determine infectivity, test host range, and evaluate plants for host plant resistance. However, successful mechanical inoculation is dependent on the condition of the virus-infected tissue source, condition of the host plants for inoculation, inoculum preparation, and the use of an abrasive.
