ABSTRACT

PARALLEL SYSPLEX1 is IBM’s COGENT AND HIGHLY STRATEGIC SERVER clustering technology for contemporary mainframe systems. Introduced in 1994, Parallel Sysplex is an integral and pivotal facet of IBM’s highly successful initiative to dramatically reduce and redefine the cost of mainframe-centric computing. Parallel Sysplex permits up to 32 mainframes, with multiple copies of the operating system and application programs tightly coupled together in a fault-masking, workload-balancing mode, replete with concurrent read/write access to shared data from all of the clustered mainframes.
