ABSTRACT
The Grey Nuns’ community in Lewiston continually re-crafted their care giving and nursing skills to mitigate the suffering of the ill and the poor. The Grey Nuns as vowed women were spiritually motivated and their goals were religious, yet they never lost the importance of material provision that is tied to the profession of nursing. 1
