ABSTRACT
Once a process is established in the laboratory in grams scale it is taken through a pilot plant followed by operations in a “semitech” lab or demonstration unit, where material is handled in kilograms or even in tons scale, before it reaches the manufacturing plant. Scale-up is aimed at finding and collating all the information and data required for the design, construction, and start-up of a new industrial unit. In addition, safety, hazard, and handling of chemicals in large scale are also gauged during this operation.
