Since analytical evaluation of the integrals in equation (1-12) is somewhat tedious, it is easier to turn to numerical methods. Evaluation using a numerical program, such as Mathcad, may provide graphical data that displays the dependence of force F on the pad radius rp, as will be demonstrated later in Example 4.1.
