ABSTRACT
At his eightieth birthday celebrations, Ernö had remarked that his buildings
would last longer than he was likely to, and that it would be for the next
generation to look after them. This is not quite what has happened. Some of
his buildings have been completely destroyed. These include the Daily Worker and Communist Party buildings and, sadly, two major buildings, the Player
House at Coombe Hill in Surrey and the Odeon cinema at Elephant and
Castle.
