Schools Must Do More for Children—Child Advocacy as an Educational Responsibility

As more child abuse and neglect cases come before the courts, school personnel are being asked to expand their services in response to the needs of children. The following case histories illustrate the disparity of response in how schools perceive their responsibilities as they move away from their traditional role as educator to a more encompassing role as child advocate. Schools can and must do more for our children, who may have no other advocate in their lives.
