ABSTRACT
Privatization, the use of private services to replace part or all of specific educational services in public schools, is a growing trend in education. It assumes a multitude of forms, from private management corporations that run entire public school systems to private practice teachers who teach selected courses. School officials often view privatization as a means to allay increasing public criticism while coping with shrinking budgets.
