ABSTRACT
The primary purpose of the present chapter is to introduce the concept of stability preserving mapping and to demonstrate that such mappings play a central role in the qualitative analysis of dynamical systems. This we accomplish by establishing results for the qualitative equivalence of dynamical systems, and finally, by proving a set of comparison theorems which will serve as the theoretical foundation for a great portion of the remaining material in this book.
