ABSTRACT

The experimental analysis of behavior is a science that easily lends itself to application. This is because the focus of the discipline is on those environmental events that directly alter the behavior of organisms. Almost half a century ago (e.g., Dollard & Miller, 1950; Skinner, 1953), behavior analysts suggested that since operant and respondent principles regulate behavior in the laboratory, they likely affect human behavior in the everyday world. Thus, principles of behavior can be used to change socially significant human conduct.
