ABSTRACT
Local legislation is made within the region by the legislature or body empowered to make law within a country at a particular time. In the course of the history of most countries in the region, there have been several different kinds of legislature or law making bodies. All legislation made locally, whether before or after independence, can be described as ‘local legislation’, although it carries several different names.
