ABSTRACT

It is clear that the pool from which the legal profession recruits its members is not representative of the general population. To some degree, this reflects broad social processes by which education reproduces existing patterns of advantage and disadvantage.62 Nevertheless, while the social class profile of the law student body is predictably privileged, its sexual and ethnic composition is more challenging to the traditional image of the legal profession. Women are in the majority among those studying law at university and ethnic minority communities are also well represented.
