ABSTRACT

The close relationship between a pharmaceutical preparation and its package is of major concern to the industrial pharmacist. Faulty packaging of pharmaceutical dosage forms can compromise the most stable formulation. Consequently, it is essential that the choice of immediate container materials for each formulation be made only after a thorough evaluation of the effect of these materials on the product’s stability. This is accomplished by testing the container’s effectiveness in protecting the product during extended storage under varying environmental conditions of temperature, humidity, and light.
