ABSTRACT
As we have already considered, the primary aim of the Community is the creation of a common market. This has meant that all unnecessary barriers to trade must be removed. The Community plays a part by, for example, ensuring the removal of all customs duties. In addition, Member States are obliged to ensure that national laws do not, amongst other things, create unnecessary pecuniary or quantitative restrictions to trade or hinder the free movement of persons within the Community.
