ABSTRACT

Two presenters opened this session: Mr Mark Robinson, Director of the Commonwealth Press Union and former Westminster MP, and Sri Lankan member of Parliament Dr the Hon Sarath Amunugama, former Director of the International Programme for the Development of Communication in UNESCO, with responsibility for upgrading communication infrastructure in developing countries. As for all other sessions, other participants included parliamentarians, current or former representatives of the media, academics and civil servants, thus setting the stage for a lively debate.
