ABSTRACT

It is now possible for an appeal to be made to the House of Lords direct from the High Court,17 if: (i) the parties agree, and the trial judge grants a certificate; (ii) the trial judge certifies that a point of law of general public importance is

involved which relates to the construction of an enactment or is one as to which the judge is bound by a precedent of the Court of Appeal or the House of Lords; or

(iii)the House of Lords gives leave.
