ABSTRACT

The OECD came into existence in 1961. It evolved out of the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (OEEC), which had been established in 1948 to administer the financial aid provided by the US and Canada under the Marshall Plan for the reconstruction of Europe following World War II.
