ABSTRACT

The Meat Hygiene Service (MHS) became an executive agency of the Food Standards Agency on 1 April 2000. The values and new working methods adopted by the Food Standards Agency will also apply to the MHS. The MHS will play an important role in contributing to the aim of the Food Standards Agency, which is ‘to protect public health from risks which may arise in connection with the consumption of food, and otherwise to protect the interests of consumers of food’.
