ABSTRACT

Competition is concerned with achieving dominance over other competitors with a view to securing more customers and business in the market place. The general aim of competition law is to regulate the market power of companies and individuals by requiring them to refrain from entering into restrictive agreements on the price at which goods or services will be supplied in the market. It also aims to regulate take-overs and mergers and to prevent companies from abusing their dominant position through, for example, excessive pricing. The interests of the public are a major consideration in controlling the price market.
