ABSTRACT
Although mediation is a traditional method of resolving conflict and practised widely in Asia and Africa, the influences on mediation in the UK came mainly from North America and Australia. In the early 1980s, several well-known leaders in mediation and conflict resolution from the USA and Australia came to the UK and spoke to a variety of audiences.
