ABSTRACT

Periodic tenancies are not contrary to the rule requiring certainty of term, since the tenancy must last for a minimum of one period, and will then continue indefinitely until brought to an end by the appropriate notice to quit (see Prudential Assurance Co Ltd v London Residuary Body [1992] 3 All ER 504, per Lord Templeman, Centaploy v Matlodge [1974] Ch 1 and Bowen v Anderson [1894] 1 QB 164).
